Wildlife Student Wins Poster Contest

Erik Johnson, RNR wildlife student recently won an award for best student poster presentation at the joint meeting of the Wilson Ornithological Society and Association of Field Ornithologists.  He was also awarded a student travel award to attend the conference, which took place April 17-20 in Mobile, Alabama.  The title of his presentation was "Ectoparasites Affect Bird Condition in Neotropical Forest Fragments" (Erik I. Johnson and Philip C. Stouffer). Congratulations Erik!

  Forestry Student runner up for outstanding award 

Brian Sebastian was recently selected as one of two Runners-up for the CoA Outstanding Senior Male Award. He was be recognized at the College of Agriculture Alumni Association’s 100th YEAR Reception on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 6:00p.m.at LSU’s Tiger Stadium Club. 

 

    2007 outstanding Forestry Award

William DeGravelles was awarded the 2007 Louisiana State University Outstanding Forestry Student Award by the Louisiana Society of American Foresters. He was selected for his exemplary work in both academics and extracurricular work, such as his leadership in the LSU Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters. He was presented the award by Steve Templin, Chair of the Louisiana Society of American Foresters, at its annual meeting, which was held in Natchez, MS, (along with the Mississippi SAF), in April 2007.
 

   

RNR Students Bring SWS Student Chapter to LSU

Xi Sigma Pi & Sigma Xi

Congratulations to Will Degravelles for winning the 2007 Xi Sigma Pi Regional Scholarship. Xi Sigma Pi is the National Forestry Honor Society.  LSU students have done very well in the past in winning this award, which covers the West Central region of eight universities.  Recent LSU winners are

 

 Matthew Reed (2006),

 Angela Secott (2004),

 Benjamin Hogue (2002).

Congratulations to Phil Saska,  I. Cracium, April Mason, Corine Armstrong , B. Thorpe Halloran, Jonathan Myers  for winning the competitive Sigma Xi Behre Writing Prize and Grants-in-Aid Award!!! Phil received $125.00 and April received $200.00. They will be recognized at the LSU Chapter of Sigma Xi 2007 Annual Banquet,April 19th, 2007,6–9 PM, LSU Union Atchafalaya Room.

 The committee evaluated numerous proposals and articles. The final results were as follows:
