Post Doctoral Positions

Postdoctoral Position in Forest Modeling and Biometrics

The University Of Maine School Of Forest Resources has a postdoctoral position in forest modeling and biometrics available. The position is funded by the Forest BioProducts Research Initiative (FBRI) and is currently a 1-year appointment with the possibility for extension. Responsibilities: The postdoc candidate is expected to focus on quantifying and modeling the region’s forest biomass resource. Potential projects include: (1) refinement of individual tree empirical growth and mortality equations; (2) modeling the influence of thinning on tree biomass growth and allocation; (3) mapping potential biomass productivity across the landscape; and (4) calibration of a process-based model for predicting biomass growth. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in forest ecology, forestry, silviculture, or closely related field. The ideal candidate will have experience with forestry models, the peer-reviewed publication process, and Forest Inventory & Analysis (FIA) data. Application: Cover letter, CV, and a list of three references.
