Wildlife Ecology

B.S. NREM: Area of Concentration

NUMBER OF HOURS: 128

The Natural Resource Ecology and Management concentration in Wildlife Ecology covers traditional management that focuses on wildlife populations, especially game animals and charismatic species of concern to the public. Students study the principles of population growth, theory, and practice concerning population exploitation, habitat requirements and methods of management, and the way that public policy influences wildlife resources. Course work follows guidelines for professional certification by The Wildlife Society upon graduation. Many students in this area of concentration will pursue advanced degrees prior to employment

BASIC SCHOLASTIC EXPECTATION

  • Complete English 1001 and one General Education Analytical Reasoning course within the first 30 hours of study.
  • Maintain a cumulative and LSU GPA of 2.0.
  • Students entering the program with 30 or more semester hours will take one more elective in place of AGRI 1001.

CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS

Theis curriculum shows how one may complete the curriculum in 4 years. CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS must be met by the indicated semester to be considered making minimal progress in their degree program.

***RNR classes listed below are linked to the Course Description page, and will give more specifics about each class.

NOTE:
This page is offered as an aid for planning a course of study. The LSU General Catalog contains the official requirements for graduation.
