Cooperative Research
Loblolly pine is one of the most ubiquitous forest grown trees in the South. Understanding its response to climate change, environmental stress, and cultural practices is very important to the future of southern forest productivity and management. Over the past decade with have been actively involved with the USDA Forest Service in developing a more complete understanding of this important tree species relative to the current and changing environment.

More Cooperative Research Efforts
Southern bottomland and wetland forests occupy nearly half of the forest land in Louisiana. These wetlands perform many useful functions, and generally are capable of being highly productive ecosystems. Decades of bottomland and wetland forest clearing and poor forest management in the Lower Mississippi River Basin have left many fewer acres, fragmented ecosystems, and often high-graded forest stands. The LSU School of Renewable Natural Resources has many research projects studying these neglected, abused, and stressed ecosystems.
Other Cooperators
Recent and current cooperation includes work with the USGS National Wetland Research Center (Lafayette, LA), Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, USDA Forest Service Center for Bottomland Hardwood Research (SRS, Stoneville, Mississippi), private companies, and other state and federal agencies.
