  • FLOWER: white to cream; large cyme; April
  • FRUIT: drupe; 1/4 “ diameter, cluster at end of stem; pink turning to blue by October, with bloom
  • TWIGS: brown; duckbill bud - more flattened than the yellow-poplar duckbill bud
  • BARK:
  • FORM: shrub to small tree
  • HABITAT: wet sites, stream bottoms
  • WETLAND DESIGNATION: Facultative Wetland (FACW): Usually occurs in wetlands, but may occur in non-wetlands of the Atlantic and Gulf Coast Plain Region
  • RANGE: eastern US
  • USES: under-utilized ornamental
