Carbon removals and renewable energy company Drax Group announced a new partnership with Louisiana State University (LSU) to support students and research associated with sustainable forestry and renewable energy. The collaboration will allow LSU and Drax to help advance energy innovation on a global level, while building on LSU’s legacy of sustainable forestry and innovative energy research.

SU researchers are using physics-based "digital twins" of solar-farming infrastructure to assess and minimize its effects on Louisiana ecosystems, funded by a nearly $500,000 experimental grant from LSU’s Institute for Energy Innovation.

PhD candidate Ashley Booth, who studies coastal wetlands at LSU's School of Renewable Natural Resources, recently completed a NOAA Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, where she supported federal policy efforts related to the environment.
