Student Wetland Society at LSU
(affiliated with the Society of Wetland Scientists)
SWS at LSU is interdepartmental, with both graduate and undergraduate student members from departments including RNR, Oceanography & Coastal Sciences, and Environmental Studies. The mission of the organization coincides with the national mission to "promote understanding, scientifically based management, and sustainable use of wetlands." Additional service activities focus on community outreach and stewardship of local wetlands.
Support from the national SWS organization and the University assists in sending student members to the regional and international SWS conferences, where they can present their research to the wetland community. Additionally, SWS at LSU organizes a bi-annual symposium for graduate students engaged in wetland research. For more information on SWS at LSU, and current news, visit their Facebook page.
